Extra Credit Image Search Project

For this extra credit project, I want to “pilot” an assignment that I might use in future semesters.  The project involves using digital research skills to assemble a gallery of works from periods and regions studied in class.  You will label each work, and compose a summary of the characteristic subjects and styles of each period.

To earn extra credit, you must complete all four image galleries, and the project must be completed before Exam #1

I am open to alternative formats:  if you would like to create your gallery in an online blog, or in a powerpoint or prezi presentation, please see me to discuss it.

Image Gallery #1:
Browse the resources provided for the Basic Visual Analysis Assignment.  Select three works that exemplify the subject matter and style of the Proto-Renaissance.  Insert into document, and label images.  Write a brief summary of the typical characteristics (consider types of subjects, characteristic styles and techniques)

Image Gallery #2:
Use the search filter in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection database to find examples of 15th century Netherlandish paintings.  Select three works and insert into document, and label images.  Write a brief summary of the typical characteristics  (consider types of subjects, characteristic styles and techniques)

Image Gallery #3:
Use the Google Art Project Digital Library to locate examples of 15th century Italian Renaissance art.  Select three works and insert into document, and label images.  Write a brief summary of the typical characteristics (consider types of subjects, characteristic styles and techniques)

Image Gallery #4
Use the Web Gallery of Art artist search feature to find examples of works of art by Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael.  Select one work by each artist and insert into document and label image.  List notable stylistic features for each artist.
