CHARLES McGILL: SKELETONS

Reception: Thursday, January 30, 4:00 – 6:00 pm

Charles McGill’s work merges a passion for golf with a more conceptual understanding of found object. Joe Lewis of Art in America writes that  “the work discovers new conceptual mass in the well-worn territories of race and representation,” and his work has been compared to some of the most influential artists of the last fifty years. “When a traditional golf bag is incorporated into art,” says the artist, “America’s very bumpy history with racism is an inevitability.”
